Phoenix Wright As Directed By Takashi Miike

Takashi Miike, the glorious Japanese manager known for charming classics equal Ichi the Killer and Audition, is delivery Phoenix Wright to the big screen.

Actually, that's a bit misleading. In that location's more to Miike's portfolio than appallingly violent psycho-thrillers and terrifying Lynchian artistic production films. He's also well-known for his crime dramas and black comedies. His big screen adaptation of Genus Phoenix Wilbur Wright: Ace Attorney, which we covered in the distant tense, arrives in Japanese cinemas on February 11th side by side year, and judging by the promotional image to the immediate right – released today alongside a teaser site for the movie – he's certainly nailed the look of the titular defense lawyer.

In that respect's certainly space for Miike's notoriously dark sense of humor in a Phoenix Wright film. When you get off to information technology, the games take place in any soft of dystopian nightmare-future where everyone has a bad pun for a name, due process of law has been scrapped and the courts volition quite happily put people away for life supported the most trivial indirect evidence. Wright's profoundly happy mental attitude towards absolutely appalling murders is plausibly fertile basis for some grim chuckles, as well.

This isn't the first time Phoenix has made the jump to other media. In 2009 all-female stage company Takarazuka Revue performed a Phoenix Wright themed musical which, contempt sounding Rubia tinctorum than a box of ferrets, actually worked out quite well.
